Necessary Materials:
(a) Blotting paper
(b) White porcelain pot
(c) Wooden spatula
(d) Glass rod, dropper, bottle
(e) Bromothymol blue
(f) Color chart
(g) Chlorophenol red
(h) Paper, pen, etc.
Procedure:
1. Take some soil from the sample and place it on absorbent paper using a spatula.
2. Add 3-4 drops of bromothymol blue to the soil sample.
3. Leave the sample for 3-4 minutes and gently shake the absorbent paper.
4. Pour the liquid indicator from the absorbent paper into a white porcelain container.
5. Compare the color of the indicator on the porcelain bowl with the color chart to determine the soil’s pH.
